The Creation of a Connoisseur
I grew up watching my coffee-loving parents go through countless cups of black coffee every single day. It seemed natural – coffee was the drink of adults, of first dates and all-night study sessions.
I knew that I wanted to be a coffee-drinker. So, when I was seventeen years old, I got a job where I could drink as much free coffee during my shifts as I wanted. And, I did. I started with sugary powdered ‘cappucino’ drinks and slowly weaned myself into drinking with cream and then, eventually, drinking it black. It wasn’t long before I grew to love the taste.
During my college years, I got a job working as a barista in a Barnes & Noble Cafe that sold Starbucks products. I spent two years working there, and I’ve spent the years since refining and experimenting with my own coffee preferences, trying coffee from all over the world, and building up my own collection of coffee tools and accessories.
One of the best parts of working as a barista was learning about and experimenting with new drinks. We often sampled new beverages as they came out, and I took full advantage of my employee discount to try out the rest of the menu.
My other favorite part of the job was when customers wanted to try something new, and needed a little help figuring out what they’d like. I really enjoyed asking them questions and tailoring a drink to their tastes, and I absolutely loved seeing the look of joy on their face when I helped them find a new favorite.
I have created this website to be a source for all of my fellow coffee enthusiasts – from beginners to other baristas. I want to teach you about coffee, to share what I’ve learned throughout the years and around the globe, and to give you reccommendations and reviews on my favorite products.
If you ever need a hand or have any questions, feel free to leave them below and I will be more than happy to help you out.
All the best,
The Coffee Connoisseur
